The Unknown War (1978) 20 part series hosted by Burt Lancaster
Posted by avatar1964 | 12/4/2009

Will this great series ever be screened on the History Channel.
I remember glimpses of it on television here in Australia back in 1980. It was hosted by Burt Lancaster and documents the Second World War from the Soviet perspective. Which they felt was largely not given adequate attention in the World at War series. I think it would be great for us now to understand a bit more about the sacrifices and great obstacles that the peoples of the Soviet Union faced in this monumental conflict that took over 20 million lives on the 'Eastern Front'. I've searched high and low in Australia for this series but have only seen snipets on the internet from overseas sites.
