I spent a wonderful ANZAC day that the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. I am an ex-serviceman and believe that we owe out freedom of movement and speech to those heroes who gave their lives and fought in the many wars of the past. The least we can do to thank them is to remember their deeds at least once per year. Lets find a path to everlasting peace together.

I am the grandaughter of an ANZAC trooper. My grandfather was in the 8th Light Horse and he was wounded at Walkers Ridge and the infamous "The Nek" He actually survived even though he was wounded in the head. In 2007 I went to Gallipoli for a tour and Dawn Service. This was an amazing experience just to see where he fought and to see the small area of The Nek where the men died in vain. It's a very haunting experience. I recommend doing a tour of Gallipoli and the Somme to everyone. I attend Dawn Service every year, and this year I went to Kings Park in Perth with about 40,000 other people. Its was very moving.

I took my 11yr old son to the War Memorial in Canberra we both cried when listened to the trumpet play the 'last post'. I was so proud to be an Australian & so proud to know my young son realises how so many young men gave their lives so we could continue to live a country which they obviously loved. Thankyou our Aussie diggers.

This can only be topped By ANZAC Day 1993 in Cambodia when I served with UNTAC' The members of the unit had all required ingredients for a great ANZAC day. Ingredients: 1 Cup of Army 1 Cup of RAAF 1 Cup of Navy add New Zealanders to the Mix. Now you Have a Top ANZAC Day Lest We Forget (ANZAC DAY 2009)

I watched the dawn service in Gallipoli and tried to put my self in the ANZACS shoes. The anticipation they must have felt as there were about t land, not knowing what lay ahead. And then I though about how different the mood would have been when they pulled out 8-9 months later. They must have all looked back at ANZAC cove thinking about those the had lost. As a descendant of Albert Jacka, who won a VC there, I feel a sense of pride for how hard they fought. Rest in peace ANZACS. We will never forget what you have done

I am to be married in Pozieres France in August this year. I have 3 Uncle's who gave their lives for us at the Somme one who was awarded the VC. I am from a military background and ANZAC DAY means they shall grow not old as we that are left grow old.

As a very proud Australian, ANZAC Day is the one day of the year that I forget all the hassles in life, and privately and quietly gives thanks to those who gave us this great country and the freedoms that we enjoy. Lest We Forget.
