Very disappointed by the programmes the THC is showing for the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing. There is the excellent 'FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON' but little else; to be honest even FTETTM is over 10 years old now. Some repeated lightweight documentaries that have been seen a few months ago, including programmes bordering on 'conspiracy theory' territory. What about some decent coverage? Tell the story of Mercury & Gemini, the stepping stones to Apollo. Tell the stories of Apollo's 7 to 10, the flights before the lunar landing. Each of them has a NASA film made about the flights which would be easily obtainable. Very disappointing; at the time when we are preparing to return to the Moon and send people to Mars, THC gives only the most cursory coverage to the history of these events.

It is interesting that History is showing the 40th anniversary on the 20th of July as being 40 years to the day. Actually, to Australia and New Zealand 20 July is 39 years 364 days since the moon landing. The landing was at 4.17pm 20 July 1969 Eastern Standard Time (USA). This equates to 9.17am 21 July 1969 in NZ and 7.17am 21 July 1969 in Australia (Eastern). Quite often we see history celebrated one day early!
